An early morning accident Wednesday in Banks County sent four people to the hospital. It happened around 7:30 a.m. during the school morning rushing hour.
43-year-old Marcia Batten of Commerce was driving a Toyota Corolla north on US 441/SR 15 when she attempted to turn left onto Historic Homer Highway. Batten failed to yield and pulled into the path of a Honda Pilot traveling south on US 441/SR 15, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
GSP identifies the driver of the Pilot as 38-year-old Chanda Leigh Cornwell of Carnesville
The wreck injured Batten and three juveniles in her vehicle. EMS transported all four to a local hospital for treatment. One of the children taken to the hospital was listed in serious condition.
The investigation into the crash continues, according to Sgt. C. E. Parker with Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville. He says the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with that investigation.
