Charles James “C.J.” Ellison

Charles James “C.J.” Ellison, age 94, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at a private care facility following an extended illness.

Mr. Ellison was born in Clarkesville, Georgia on September 29, 1920 to the late George Matthew and Susie Trotter Ellison. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mr. Ellison was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country during World War II. He served in the Signal Corp and landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy the day after D-Day, and advanced throughout Europe to Germany. He retired from General Motors with 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. Mr. Ellison was also a recipient of The Purple Heart.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellison is preceded in death by his brother, Rothell Ellison; sisters Louise Callam, Catherine Logan, and Frances Burke.

Survivors include Mr. Ellsion’s wife, Mildred Anderson Ellison, of Clarkesville, Georgia; sister, Judy Ellison, of Clarkesville, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Furman Lewis, Rev. Tommy Stowe, and Rev, Teresa Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 1:30 to the funeral hour.
