Clay shooting enthusiasts, hunters, businesses and individuals are urged to gather teams to take part in the Fourth Annual Charity Clay Shoot presented by Habersham County United Way. This event is a fundraiser for United Way’s 2019 campaign.
Thanks to the generosity of John Arrendale, the shoot will again take place on his property in Clarkesville at 2320 Hardman Road on Saturday, October 26. Participants can enjoy breathtaking views for a fun morning of sporting clays.
To guarantee a spot and a souvenir shirt, pre-registration by Friday, October 18, is encouraged but not required. Teams and individuals may register on the day of the event as long as space is available. The shoot is open to 160 shooters or 40 teams max.
The course is a 100 target shoot with registration starting at 8 a.m.
Lunch will be provided for all shooters starting at noon thanks to generous donations from community businesses and individual donors.
The cost of team registration is $500 and $125 for individuals. Individuals will be grouped together on teams. Shooters must provide all of their own ammunition, plus eye and ear protection.
Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each class (modeled after modified Lewis Class System for Sporting Clays) and also to the individual top male and female shooters overall. The “Brothers in Blue Cup” will be awarded to the top law enforcement/First Responder agency participating. A special award will be given to the worst shooter of the day, aptly named “The Biggest Waste of Lead.” Mulligans, or do-overs, will be sold as well as raffle tickets for donated items to further the event’s fundraising efforts.
In 2018 the Habersham United Way funded 22 local agencies and programs that provided much-needed services in the community.
