Geoff Chaffin has been named the new head baseball coach for the Johnson Knights. Previously, Chaffin was an assistant at Chestatee and Flowery Branch High Schools. He takes over a baseball program that Johnson High School Athletic Director Tony Wagner says has “made great strides over the past couple of years and has a number of veterans returning next season.”
“Coach Chaffin is well respected for his character, integrity, and baseball knowledge,” Wagner continues. “We are excited to have him lead our program and our young men on the diamond.”
Chaffin is both grateful and enthusiastic about the opportunity to lead the Knights. This will be his first stint as a head coach. “It is an honor, and I am humbled to a part of the rich tradition and community at Johnson High School,” he says. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to lead and help build the baseball program, and I’m excited about meeting everyone soon. I look forward to getting to work and helping our players be the best they can be on and off the baseball diamond.”
Associate Principal Jonathan Edwards likes the new addition to his staff. “Coach Chaffin is a man of high-character, has a track record of being a positive relationship builder, and is an excellent teacher of the game. We are excited to have him continue to build our baseball program.”
