Cathy L. Hensley, age 66, of Demorest, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2024, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hensley was born on August 6, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Travis and Lillian Souther Cagle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susan DeWitt.
Cathy retired from ThermoFisher Scientific after 23 years of dedicated service as a global import compliance specialist. Cathy was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others. She was a beacon of positivity, never having a negative thing to say about anyone. Her kindness, generosity, and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her. It was often said, “To know her is to love her.” Cathy loved wildlife and enjoyed spending time among nature. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, amazing aunt, and a loving grandmother, affectionately known as “Mimi” and “Mema”
Survivors include her loving husband of 44 years, Thomas R. Hensley, of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Jonathan Starr, of Jefferson; Hillary and Ronald Jones, of Braselton; Evelyn and Russell Gassaway, of Hiram; grandchildren, Whitney Woodard, Elizabeth Gassaway, Allen Gassaway, Alexander Starr, and Everett Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Terry Rice and family officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at White Hall Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the funeral home.
