CLEVELAND – White County now officially has a new county manager. During a called meeting Tuesday, the board of commissioners approved an employment contract with Joseph “Joey” Cason. The contract calls for an annual salary of $112,000.
Cason, who is currently serving as Executive Director of the Camden County Public Service Authority (PSA) will be wrapping up things with them over the next couple of weeks, he will officially begin work in White County on Monday, September 20th.
Cason talked with reporters after the meeting and said he’s done his homework and is ready to get to work.
“I have read the comprehensive plan, very up to speed on their SPLOST projects, very up to speed on the budget there, made sure I understood the use of fund balance to basically go ahead and get the budget done, so I feel pretty comfortable that I’ve got a general grasp looking forward to meeting all the department heads and things like that,” said Cason.
One thing Cason is doing prior to him stepping in as county manager is asking all department heads to read an extreme leadership book call Radical Leap.
Cason succeeds Jason Cobb who left the county manager’s job in June to pursue a private business opportunity. Cobb resigned after only one year on the job.
