This year’s Gatsby Gala, sponsored by the Cornelia Downtown Development Authority, again features a Roaring Twenties theme. It takes place Saturday, March 12th from 7-10 p.m. at the Community House in Cornelia.
Cornelia Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby says there will be some noticeable changes. “Casino Night will be different this year because we are utilizing both levels of the Community House. We spread it out to allow for more dining tables and room to walk,” she explains.
Natalie Jane’s restaurant has tailored a ’20s themed menu for the event and will be providing drinks along with Whistle Top Brew Company.
In addition to eating, drinking and gambling, the evening will include a silent auction. All proceeds raised will go to support the the Cornelia Downtown Revitalization and Façade Grant program which helps pay for local business and downtown area beautification projects. “This event is important to the City of Cornelia because it is the only fundraiser for the year,” says Owensby. “If we don’t make any money to put into these efforts, our local businesses will not have help from the DDA to make their storefronts more appealing and approachable.”
Advance ticket sales are over but organizers say there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door for $30 each. “We only have about 40 left, so, if you want them, you have to be on time!,” stresses Owensby.
This is a 21 and over ONLY event and no babysitting is provided.
Owensby adds, “Please come out and help us raise money to help the Cornelia Downtown Development Authority have the ability to continue improving our downtown!”
