Carol Lovell Popham, age 80 of Clarkesville, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Habersham Home East following an extended illness.
Carol was born in Habersham County, on October 09, 1938, to the late Virgil Jackson and Irene Ellison Lovell. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville. She was a retired nurse, dedicating a total of 32 years of service to others. She was one of the first pioneers of Home Health Care in the Northeast Georgia mountains and was presented the Blue Angel Award, the highest award at Tugaloo Home Health Agency.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kennedy Ruthann Wright.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Wayne Popham of Clarkesville; children and spouses, Lynn and Tommy Anderson of Gainesville, Leesa and Jeff Anderson of Clarkesville, Greg and Sue Popham of Commerce, Leslie Popham of Clarkesville and Leah and Garrett Misencik of Clarkesville; sisters, Louise York of Demorest, Sue Pardue and Jewell Brown both of Clarkesville; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Rowena Lovell of Clarkesville; special long-time friends, Mary Lou and Dwight Durham of Carrollton, Georgia and Ruthann Irvin of Clarkesville. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 pm on Monday, March 18, 2019 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Tom Fish officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery in Clarkesville.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
