A Carnesville man faces two counts of first-degree arson for allegedly burning two homes last month in Franklin County.
According to state fire investigators, James Anthony Stamps, 53, was arrested earlier this month. He’s accused of torching two homes on May 15.
A Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol reported the first residential fire on Old Federal Road. A second home fire was called in less than an hour later on the nearby JH Shirley Road.
“After speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from a local business, investigators identified Mr. Stamps as the primary suspect of the blazes,” says Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John King.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Stamps on June 7.
