Cannon Bridge Road reopens after being shut down by morning accident

Traffic is flowing freely again on GA 105/Cannon Bridge following an accident that temporarily shut down both lanes of traffic near Double Springs Road.

The wreck happened just before 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3. The Georgia State trooper investigating the accident says the red Ford Fiesta involved in the wreck was traveling southbound on Cannon Bridge Road. The driver attempted to turn left onto Double Springs Road and failed to yield. A northbound Chevy Equinox T-boned the Fiesta on the passenger side. The impact pushed the Fiesta into a ditch, causing it to overturn. The Equinox would up on the side of the roadway with a smashed front-end.

Habersham EMS transported one of the women to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. The names and conditions of the drivers involved in the accident have not been released.

This is the second wreck involving an overturned vehicle on GA 105/Cannon Bridge Road just this week. On Monday, Sept. 30, a dump truck overturned south of where today’s accident occurred, spilling asphalt onto the roadway. The driver in that accident was also injured.
