It’s going to be a busy primary season in Habersham County this year. Fifteen candidates are running for local offices.
Qualifying for the May 22nd Primary Election ended Friday. Here’s the list of candidates who qualified:

County Commissioner, District 3
Steve Lindley of Cornelia
Jimmy Roy Tench of Alto
Board Of Education, District 3
Russell Hughes Nelson (I) of Cornelia
Board Of Education, District 4
Kristie Lynn Dover of Demorest
Ricky Williams (I) of Demorest
Board Of Education, District 5
John F Elger of Clarkesville
Patsy Taylor (I) of Clarkesville
Municipal candidates
Candidates also qualified for municipal elections in Baldwin and Mount Airy.
Stephanie Almagno and Larry T. Lewallen are running in Baldwin. Christopher Green, Patrick Ledford, Kenneth Moore, and Cindy Tyler will be on the ballot in Mount Airy.
No one qualified to run for the open seat on the Alto Town Council.
All candidates qualified with the Republican Party. No Democratic candidates qualified.
