Today, Jim Butterworth endorsed Bo Hatchett for State Senate. Hatchett is running for the 50th district seat Butterworth once held.

The former senator and Georgia National Guard Adjutant General says Hatchett possesses the qualities needed to serve North Georgia in the Senate.

“Bo is a strong conservative and family man who we can count on to represent our values in Atlanta,” Butterworth says. “I have known Bo for many, many years. He is an accomplished man of his word who we can trust to represent us with responsive leadership.”

Hatchett is one of four candidates currently campaigning for the senate seat now held by John Wilkinson (R-Toccoa). The other announced candidates are Habersham County commissioner and businessman Stacy Hall, Clarkesville attorney Tricia Hise, Jackson County realtor Andy Garrison, and Franklin Springs mayor and businessman Lee Moore. All of them are Republicans.

Wilkinson has held the District 50 State Senate seat since 2011. He’s not seeking reelection because he’s running for Congress.
