Local business owners and managers looking to better familiarize themselves with current laws governing the workplace are invited to attend an upcoming seminar sponsored by the Georgia Department of Labor.
A Business and Employer Summit will be held Tuesday, October 28, from 9am-1pm at the Torch Worship Center located at 800 Cannon Bridge Road in Cornelia. Registration begins at 8:30AM.
The Business Services Unit of the Georgia Department of Labor in collaboration with the Georgia Employer Committees will conduct the half-day seminar. Organizers say the purpose is to “empower and inform human resources professionals, business owners and supervisors who desire to operate effectively within the legal climate that is affecting their workplace.”
Topics include Unemployment Insurance, Affordable Healthcare Updates and a special presentation by Georgia Labor Commissioner, Mark Butler. Other guest speakers also include Cherry Rizer of the Georgia Department of Labor and Julie Grier from Northwestern Benefit Corporation.
Early bird registration for the summit is $35 with a $5 discount for each additional person from the same company. After Oct. 21 the rate is $40 at the door with a $5 discount for each additional person from the same company. Lunch is included in the registration fee and all fees are tax deductible. Group rates are available and advance registration is encouraged. All checks should be made out to the Habersham Employer Committee.
