Brother George F. Bryson

Brother George F. Bryson, age 65, of Alto, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2017.

George was born on March 8, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Bryson, of Cumming; grandson, Michael Roberts; and daughter-in-law, Marie Roberts. George had a Doctorate Degree from Calvary Theological Seminary. He was a member of Alto C.H. Church. George was a veteran of the United States Army, beginning during the Vietnam Era and continuing for 16 years. He taught middle school a number of years in the Christian School. George served as a prison chaplain at I.W. Davis State Prison and was also a Chaplain with the V.A. Hospital in Atlanta. Later, he was a Christian counselor for the community where he loved helping others.

George loved people, going to church, and especially playing his congo drums. He was known for his loving hugs, his wonderful smile, and his favorite saying “God is good, all the time.  All the time, God is good!”

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Wyvonia Bryson, of Alto; children, Joseph Roberts, of Carnesville; Amanda Bryson Alushi and husband, Ilirian, of Alto; Jeanette Bryson, of Alto; James Bryson, of Alto; siblings and spouses, Patricia Cronier and Richard; Annette Boothe and Fritz; Kristine Sanders; James Bryson, and Christine; Tom Bryson and Nell; and granddaughter, Juliana Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at the funeral home.

Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Jonathan Barron officiating. Inurnment will follow in Alto Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Army, Grant Reeve VFW 7720, American Legion Post #84, and Rabun County DAV #15.
