Brookdale Road in Stephens County is back open to traffic after being closed for several hours on Tuesday due to a fallen tree.
According to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, the tree that fell near Fernside Drive took out power lines and blocked the roadway. Hart EMC and sheriff’s deputies were called to clear the scene.
Heavy rains likely contributed to the mishap. More than 4 inches of rain has fallen in the area in the past two days and more rain is expected on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service is calling for more rain on Wednesday morning as the last round of a series of showers moves across the area. Locally excessive rainfall from heavy showers may result in isolated flooding.
