Detour around Prather Bridge expected to last through January
Work is scheduled to begin soon to replace the 76-year-old bridge over Toccoa Creek in Stephens County. The $2.3 million project, awarded to Baldwin Paving of Marietta, begins July 18th.
“The bridge will be closed for a period of 180 days while the bridge is replaced,” said Harold Mull, Construction Engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. “Once the bridge is opened there could be additional project associated lane closures during off peak hours to finish minor on work on the project.”
A clearly signed off-site detour route will take traffic around the bridge during construction utilizing Highview Road, Old Rothell Road and Camp Mikell Road. The anticipated project completion date is January 14, 2017 weather permitting.
