The Bread Aisles are Full

Ingles in Clarkesville is buzzing with activity as everyone prepares for the Winter Storm. Taylor Houston, Customer Service Manager, stated, “We’ve had a steady stream of customers all day today. We are working hard to restock the bread aisle and water aisle. It is a constant job!” Ingles stayed opened last year during the rough weather and Houston believes this year will be no different. “Bad weather usually doesn’t slow us down.”

Customers in the store were filling their baskets with jars of peanut butter, milk, eggs, chili fixins’, and of course – BREAD. We spoke to those in the store asking them how they planned to “ride out the storm”:

Natalie and Caywood spoke of their preparations, “We have a wood stove so we don’t worry much about cold weather. We have hot tea and plenty of soup.”

Lorie laughed about the potential weather, “When we are too prepared it never comes. When we aren’t, it always happens.”

Stephanie and Jeff plan to grill hotdogs and watch television.

Lloyd remembers the snow storm back in 1993 which left him without water for several days. His basket was filled with bottled water, bread, sandwich meat, and Coke. “I’m not one to fret about bad weather but I think this storm is going to hit harder than they say.”

If you haven’t made your grocery store run yet, now is the time to do it. And even if you’re not one to stock up, it’s fun to greet friends you haven’t seen in a while and enjoy the excitement.

A note of warning: there is quite a line at Starbucks!
