A Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for City of Clarkesville water customers in the area of North Georgia Technical College on Highway 197 North.
The advisory was issued early Tuesday due to a water main break that kept crews working well into the evening to repair it. Clarkesville Project Management Director Tim Durham says it appears the line broke “due to age and rock abrasion.”
Because the line was exposed during repairs, the water department issued a boil water advisory as a precaution against possible contamination. Durham says the immediate area surrounding North Georgia Technical College is affected. The disrupted water service forced the college to cancel classes Tuesday on the Clarkesville campus.
