UPDATE: Boil water advisory issued for portions of Baldwin

The City of Baldwin Water System has issued another boil water advisory due to a water main break in the 4800 block of Old 441 which is disrupting water supply or causing low water pressure in parts of the water system including: Old 441 south of Harmony Church Road, Wynn Lake Road, Soapstone Road, Moss Mill Road and Rock Springs Road areas.

Earlier Saturday morning, the city of Baldwin had also issued a boil water advisory for a portion of its water system, affecting homes and businesses. According to the earlier advisory issued by the city, it affects Stonepile Street, Sunrise Ridge, Ridge Circle, and Crumbly Drive.

Affected customers should boil their water at a rolling boil for at least two minutes before drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food.

The advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution – there is the potential a health hazard may exist due to microbial contamination in these areas without positive pressure.

In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, customers that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressure are advised to use only boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, or preparing food.

The advisory is in effect until the City of Baldwin Water System has done the appropriate testing to be confident that there is no longer a public health concern. Customers will be notified immediately when the advisory is lifted. Once it is lifted you should flush all faucets for a minimum of two minutes before using them for drinking or food preparation.
