Hartwell, GA – Three Lady Lion golfers competed in the Emmanuel Invitational this week with Cortney Boggs making the biggest slash posting a top five finish individually to take All-Tournament honors at the event.
Boggs posted a two day total of 170 (86-84) to force a two-way tie with Arleen Xayasone of Concord University who finished 4th of the four teams at the event despite Xayasone’s high finish.
Emmanuel won the team portion of the event with a two-day team total of 692, the only team of the four to post below 700 in the two-round event.
Boggs’ top five finish is the best of the 2014-15 season for the senior as she shaved two strokes off her first-day score to card an 84 and climb into the top five. The veteran finished 14 strokes back of the event’s individual champion, Spartanburg Methodist’s Nikita Arjun, who shot a 79 on day one before following that up with a day-two 77 to win the event.
Piedmont’s Malorie Smith posted a 94-91–185 to finish in sole possession of 16th in the field of 24 golfers. Rounding out the field for PC was Ashton Mamula who turned in a two-day total of 188 shooting a 96 on day one before shaving off four strokes in the second round.
The Lady Lions will have about a week to prepare for their next event as they stay local competing at the Golden Tigers Spring Invitational on Monday, March 30 and Tuesday March 31. The event will be held at the Chicopee Woods Golf Course in nearby Gainesville, Georgia.
