The Habersham County Board of Education may share information on the 2023 budget at their Monday meeting. The budget, as of their last work session, was still yet to be released.

Financial Director Staci Newsome said at the March 31 work session that the state budget was still in the conference committee, and the school board cannot release a finalized budget until they have the state budget. Monday is the last day of the legislative session, and the board is hopeful to be able to share more information on the budget at that time.

The BOE will have two public hearings regarding the budget: May 5 at their work session and June 13 at their meeting.

The BOE held a public hearing at their March 31 work session, but the budget had not been completed at that time. Newsome informed the media after the meeting that the board had hoped to hear ideas and concerns surrounding the budget before it was released.

The meeting will also include the board’s presentation of the Extra Mile and Service Above Self Awards, as well as personnel recommendations. To view the agenda, click here.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4 at the Habersham County Board of Education meeting room in Clarkesville.
