Board of Education Elects Leaders, Approves Personnel

Monday night’s Board of Education meeting yielded votes for new leadership and addition of school system personnel. Board member Don Corbett was elected to serve as 2016’s new Chairperson. After he was elected, he announced that he plans to run for another term as board member. “Three years goes fast,” he said, “and I will be running again for District 1.”

Outgoing Chairperson Dr. Robert Barron was elected to serve as Vice Chairperson. He said he “appreciated the opportunity to be your chairman this year (in 2015),” adding that he also “will be running again,” with qualification in March, he said.

The school board’s Attorney for 2105 was Jennifer Thacker, who was elected Monday to serve again in 2016.

The Board also voted to accept the following personnel for 2015-2106:

Jennifer Amanda Sexton, Pre-K Paraprofessional

Melanie Beason, Substitute Bus Driver
Tim Dockery, Transportation Director, 49%

The Board also accepted the retirement of Homer Haynes, Bus Driver, effective March 1, 2016
