BLITZ Football Power Rankings after Week 5

There was little movement in our latest Power Rankings, as the top seven stayed intact. Banks County’s third straight win bumped them up, while White County fell for the fourth week in a row.

POWER RAKINGS - AFTER WEEK 5

#1 RABUN COUNTY WILDCATS

RECORD: 4-1
PREVIOUS RANKING: #1
REASON(S): The Wildcats again led 42-0 at the break and rested the starters in the second half.

#2 DAWSON COUNTY TIGERS

RECORD: 5-0
PREVIOUS RANKING: #2
REASON(S): Another week, another dominating win for Dawson County.

#3 JEFFERSON DRAGONS

RECORD: 4-1
PREVIOUS RANKING: #3
REASON(S): Jefferson has cruised the past four weeks.

#4 COMMERCE TIGERS

RECORD: 5-0
PREVIOUS RANKING: #4
REASON(S): Commerce remains perfect with an easy win over Madison.

#5 UNION COUNTY PANTHERS

RECORD: 5-0
PREVIOUS RANKING: #5
REASON(S): Union is one of three of our local programs still without a loss. BIG test this week against Elbert though.

#6 STEPHENS COUNTY INDIANS

RECORD: 4-2
PREVIOUS RANKING: #6
REASON(S): Stephens used a late score to slide past Cedar Shoals. Now a rare two straight bye weeks before region play kicks in.

#7 HABERSHAM CENTRAL RAIDERS

RECORD: 3-2
PREVIOUS RANKING: #7
REASON(S): A bye week came for Habersham and now comes Lanier on the road to begin region play. It will be pivotal for the Raiders to get that first region win early.

#8 BANKS COUNTY LEOPARDS

RECORD: 3-2
PREVIOUS RANKING: #9
REASON(S): The Leopards slide up the rankings again after moving to 3-2 on the season and now 2-0 in region play.

#9 WHITE COUNTY WARRIORS

RECORD: 1-4
PREVIOUS RANKING: #8
REASON(S): This is not quite what we had in mind for White County through the first half of the season, and #4-ranked Flowery Branch in Week 6 won’t make it any easier.

#10 LUMPKIN COUNTY INDIANS

RECORD: 2-3
PREVIOUS RANKING: #10
REASON(S): Lumpkin has a bye week to regroup and gear up for Cherokee Bluff, which will see them take on their former head coach Tommy Jones.

#11 TOWNS COUNTY INDIANS

RECORD: 2-3
PREVIOUS RANKING: #11
REASON(S): Towns had a tough assignment against #2-ranked Athens Academy, so the next couple of weeks will prove a bit more kind.
