BLITZ feature interview spotlights White County golf state champion Caroline Craig [VIDEO]

She might just be entering her junior year at White County, but Caroline Craig is well on her way to some amazing career accomplishments.

Craig won the GHSA Class 4A State Title just a couple of months ago at the state golf tournament at Maple Ridge in Columbus. Although the tournament was supposed to be a two-day contest, rain shortened nearly every state classification to just one day. That left Craig, who carded a 2-over 74, the state champion. Fellow teammate and recent graduate Karson Kimsey, a collegiate signee, helped lead the girls to a top-five finish as a team.

White County resides in perhaps the toughest area for girls golf in the state, with Marist, Woodward and Blessed Trinity all three placing ahead of the Lady Warriors in the top five. Those three and White County are all in the same area, placing almost identically at the area meet in qualifying for state.

Craig at the end of her freshman year committed verbally to the University of Georgia, and her younger sister will be on the White County golf team this upcoming season. Craig sat down with BLITZ for an exclusive one-on-one interview to talk about her golfing career, feelings on winning state and who she looks up to the most. Craig, also showing maturity beyond her years, sites mental toughness as an area she needs to improve upon in her game — something many players don’t even consider as an area to improve.
