The heavenly smells that greet you as you open the door give a hint of the freshly baked goods and home cooked foods found at Beck’s Deli. Located at 258 South Main Street in Cornelia, not far from the Old Cornelia Steakhouse, they are open Monday through Saturday, 5am to 2pm.
Beckie Hill opened Beck’s Deli in mid-July with the help of her father Lee Baggett, 71, and her two daughters Whitnie and Marissa. They work long hours to provide delicious food for breakfast and lunch. Getting to the deli at 3 am to start the doughs for the day, they are known to work late into the evening ensuring everything is clean and prepared for the next day. But this is a labor of love for Beckie, who says “I’ve always wanted to own my own store.” Although she once was part of the Donut Palace in Demorest, Beckie is clear that they are not related.
Everything is made from scratch, from the bagels and croissants to breads, donuts, and assorted baked goods. For breakfast the choices include omelets, biscuits and gravy, and a wide variety of breakfast sandwiches on bagels, croissants or biscuits to name just a few. For lunch you can choose from assorted grilled or pressed sandwiches, like the Cuban, Italian, Steak or Chicken Philly. Let’s not forget the Bar-B-Que pulled pork sandwich, chicken salad, pasta salad, fries and onion rings.
We spoke with several customers when we visited and here is what they had to say. Karen Christian told Now Habersham, “I Love it. Everything that we have had has been wonderful. They’re very nice people.” Bonnie Parker said, “We love it. Service is great.” “It’s fresh, nice, friendly service.” says Dorinda Marshall.
