Bill Robert Williams, 87, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Mr. Williams was born on June 29, 1937, in Mount Airy, Georgia, to the late Ernest Jake and Emily Maude Smith Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Williams, Loyd Williams, and Charles Williams.
Bill was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest. A veteran of the United States Army, Bill served his country with honor and dedication. During his working years, Bill was employed by International Furniture Company and was a self-employed carpenter. Bill eventually retired from the maintenance department of the Habersham County Board of Education.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Minnie Ruth Brookshire Williams, of Demorest; sisters and brother-in-law, Joann and Junior Brookshire, of Demorest; Janie and Gene Smith, of Demorest; sister, Patricia Williams, of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, Buster and Tilley Williams, of Clarkesville; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Rene Hallford.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Bill and Minnie Ruth’s beloved neighbors, Travis and Samantha Purdy for the care they have shown.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the Yonah Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Josh Taylor officiating and military honors provided by the United States Army and the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
