Bennie (Ben) Wilson, age 86 of Marietta, passed away September 17, 2021.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 12030 Ga-197, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, prior to the service from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
Survivors include his wife: Dot Stamey Wilson, son: Craig, daughter: Carla (husband Dennis Outlaw), granddaughters: Kadi and Jaci Adams, brother: Ron Wilson, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends. Ben’s journey began in a farm family at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School. Ben joined active service in the United States Navy in 1952 and continued in Naval Reserves until 1986. He graduated from Georgia State University, with BBA in Management. His aviation career spanned five decades, 32 years with Delta Airlines, finally retiring from 10 years with Lockheed and a handful of start-up airlines in between.
He was married to Dot for over 64 years with a life of love and adventure. Ben and Dot’s travels stretched from Germany to Indonesia and Venezuela to Alaska. Ben’s life centered around his Christian faith, family, and service to others. Ben also served many years as a church deacon. His gentle spirit and tremendous sense of humor will live forever; he will be missed by all.
