Bears’ Campbell earns second-team All-Conference, Lambert named All-Freshman

The Truett McConnell men’s basketball team had four players earn awards during the Appalachian Athletic Conference basketball awards ceremony Wednesday evening.

David Campbell Jr., was named to the All-Conference Second Team, while Kai Lambert was awarded as a part of the All-Freshman Team. Brandon Cerezola was awarded a spot on the Champions of Character Team.

A junior from Lake Wales, Florida, Campbell averaged a team-high 16 points per game this season. He finished seventh in the conference in scoring per game, 10th in field goal percentage, 14th in three-point percentage and 15th in free throw percentage. He also had the eighth most three-pointers this season in the conference and the 17th most assists. Campbell was tied for ninth in most points scored in a single game this season, putting up 33 against Reinhardt on January 9.

A freshman from Lawrenceville, Lambert averaged 8.5 points per game and had the third most steals on the team with 32. He also led the Bears in rebounding with 5.5 boards per game. He was 11th in the AAC in rebounds per game, ninth in defensive rebounds per game and had the eighth best assist-to-turnover ratio.

A senior from Peachtree City, Georgia, Cerezola was nearly 37 percent from behind the arc this season, hitting 28 of 76 attempts from downtown. He finishes his Truett McConnell career with a career three-point percentage of 36.4 percent.
