Romans 2:13, “For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.”
Often we know what is right; we know what we should do; we know what God’s Word tells us to do, but we choose to do what we want to do. It isn’t enough to know the Word of God, we have to live it. It isn’t enough to know what is the right thing to do, we actually have to do it. Sometimes there is disparity between what comes from our lips and what is manifested in our every day lives.
A person can know the scriptures, can speak the Word of God, can tell others exactly what should be done, then act horribly in the drive-thru line at McDonalds or speak ill to the cashier at Walmart or act out at a ballgame. The worst part of it all, it brings dishonor to God.
I’ve often heard it said the best witness for God is not words but actions.
God calls us not only to know His Word but to BE His Word.
