Banks County School officials say they’re aware of recent social media posts threatening a possible shooting or some type of planned attack at Banks County High School.
System administrators say they’re working with the Banks County Sherriff’s Office to investigate the situation.
“At this point, no credible threat has been determined,” a notice to the system’s website states.
This is the latest in a string of alleged threats against area schools since the Valentine’s Day school shooting in Florida left 17 people dead.
Banks County says it has increased the police presence in its school district and worked with GEMA and the Sheriff’s Office to update its safety plans and first response team. The system also points out staff members are trained in CPR and first aid, and all school system personnel are versed in lock-down procedures.
System officials add, “We will continue to be vigilant and take all threats seriously as we work with the proper authorities to ensure the safety of our students and employees.”
