The Banks County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Civilian Response Active Shooter Event (CRASE) course on Wednesday, October 23.
According to Banks County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Olivia Justus, the course is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, and Defend (ADD) strategy developed by Texas State University.
Citizens will learn topics such as the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.
“It is a great opportunity for citizens to learn what to do during an active attack,” Justus said.
The course is open to any and all citizens that wish to attend and will last about an hour and a half.
For those interested in attending the training, you can register online at bankscountysheriff.org/home/training/.
The course will be held Wednesday, October 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in The Annex at 150 Hudson Ridge in Homer.
