“An ideal setting in the hills of Northeast Georgia made our first annual Banks County Sheriff’s Benefit Ride a heartwarming event,” Banks County’s Public Information Officer Olivia Justus described. “The event was a fundraiser for our ‘Shop with a Hero’ program.”
The Sheriff’s Shop with a Hero has been an ongoing Christmas tradition for the Banks County Sheriff’s Office.
The funds allow children who couldn’t receive gifts at Christmas to enjoy a day of shopping and eating with local heroes.
Each year the Sheriff’s Office brainstorms new and creative ways to raise money to purchase gifts for the children. This year they wanted to do a benefit ride.
“For our first annual ride, we had 33 participants with help from Gwinnett County Police Department, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Banks County Fire & EMS for assisting, and Cam Boswell for providing food for the event,” Justus added.
“It’s absolutely a blessing when you see these children who otherwise wouldn’t have a Christmas if it wasn’t for what each of you have done by giving your time, your donations, and your energy,” Sheriff Carlton Speed expressed.
The event raised $1400. All proceeds will go to the Sheriff’s Shop with a Hero event. If you are interested in donating, contact the Banks County Sheriff’s Office at
