The Lady Leopards softball team is off to a quick 4-0 start, outscoring opponents 32-6.
For sixth-year head coach Tony Bowen and his girls, this is a solid start. However, they have bigger things in mind. Junior pitcher Jaycie Bowen (also a star basketball player) has been phenomenal, and for the first time in awhile, coach Bowen said he has the perfect combination of hitting, pitching, speed and defense.
The team’s motto is “Give 100%, 100% of the time.” It has showed thus far for the Lady Leopards, who are looking to get back to state after snapping their five-year streak last season. However, despite the constant tradition of making state, the girls have yet to get over the first round hump. This year, Bowen and the girls hope that they can do that by setting their goal to get to Columbus for the Elite 8.
