Family pets, home lost in Banks County house fire

BALDWIN, Ga. — Two family pets died in a house fire Sunday afternoon in Banks County, according to Fire Chief Steve Nichols. The Banks County Fire Department responded to the blaze at a home in the Apple Pie Ridge subdivision around 2:20 p.m.

“The house is a total loss,” says Nichols. “We were able to prevent it from spreading to other homes in the neighborhood.”

Chief Nichols says the cause of the fire is still under investigation but is expected to be ruled accidental.

Baldwin Fire Department was called to assist Banks County, and several other fire departments, including Jackson County, Habersham, Cornelia, and Lee Arrendale State Prison, assisted at the scene.
