Authorities are still searching for the woman who robbed the Northeast Georgia Bank in Commerce Monday morning. Banks County deputies were called to the scene at 30990 US-441 around 10:30 a.m.

“We do know that the female was in possession of a firearm,” says Banks County Sheriff’s Lt. Carissa McFadden. “The witnesses advised that the female partially presented the firearm in a bag to employees.”

The suspect is described as a thin white female in her early to mid-30’s approximately 5’4″ tall. She was wearing a white t-shirt, brown shorts and black bandana during the robbery. Witnesses outside the bank told authorities she removed the bandana as she left the bank. They said she has blonde hair.

The suspect was last seen walking toward the Days Inn at Banks Crossing near Tanger Outlet Mall.

A lookout was issued along the I-85 corridor for a “vehicle of interest” — a blue-grey Dodge Caravan with a New York license plate on the front bumper, possible model year 2006 or 2007. Law enforcement in Georgia and South Carolina, were told to be on the lookout.

Approximately four hours after the robbery, a similar van was stopped by Cleveland Police on the Helen Highway in White County. Reports began circulating on social media it was the suspect. Banks County Sheriff’s Lt. Carissa McFadden says she was advised that the arrest in Cleveland “is not her (the suspect) and (is) unrelated.”

A Tuesday morning post on the Banks County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page sought to quell the rumors. “The NEGA Bank robbery suspect HAS NOT been captured,” BCSO writes. “There have been rumors that the suspect was captured in White County yesterday afternoon which is NOT TRUE.”

Below are surveillance photos of the suspect captured on the bank’s security camera.

Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact 911 immediately.
