“Kids are going to love it!” says Baldwin City Manager Tommie Perry. “They’ll have a zip line, a helicopter and the drunken goggles.” She’s talking about Baldwin Public Safety Day coming up this Saturday at Michell Gailey Park.
Baldwin Fire Chief Joe Roy and Police Chief Chad Nichols are bringing out their vehicles and equipment to show off to the community and let kids get a close up look at fire trucks and police cars they might otherwise only see on TV.
They’ll also have practical demonstrations to teach folks how to properly use fire extinguishers and they’ll check your child’s car seat to make sure it is installed and working properly.
Baldwin’s Public Safety Day runs from 10AM till 2PM on Saturday April 11.
Mitchell Gailey Park is right next door to the Baldwin Fire and Police departments on Willingham Ave.
Admission is free. You can purchase lunch on site and all proceeds will benefit the efforts of the Habersham Firefighters’ Clown Society which uses clowning to teach children fire safety lessons.
