Baldwin prepares for spring clean-up day

It’s time for spring cleaning in the city of Baldwin. The annual Baldwin Clean-Up Day will be held April 25. City Manager Tommie Perry says volunteers are needed to help pick up litter and trash around town.

The event is as social as it is helpful. Volunteers will be served free breakfast and lunch and will work in teams.

The day begins at 9am at Mitchell Gailey City Park on Willingham Avenue. Perry says teams will be assigned certain streets to clean up. Trucks will make the rounds delivering drinking water to the various teams. Everyone will meet back at the park at noon for lunch and prize drawings.

All food, beverages and prizes are donated by local businesses.

Perry says, “Being a part of this day is about taking pride in our community.” When the day is done you can wear your pride on your sleeve, literally. Everyone who participates will receive a free 2015 Baldwin Clean-Up Day t-shirt. This year’s t-shirt design was submitted by Jayden Pierno of the Habersham Girl Scout Troup number 11214.

In the event of rain or other bad weather the clean-up will be postponed until May 2.
