Baldwin Police Chief Chad Nichols is proud of the force he’s built for the city since taking the top cop job almost 18 months ago, “We’ve assembled a great team here,” he says. “I’m proud of the whole department.”
On Monday, Nichols singled out two members of his team for praise and promotion. Officers Shane Adams and Charles Webb are now Police Sergeants, “These guys have been good about helping me out with anything extra I ask them to do without question,” Nichols explains. “They do an outstanding job for me and the city. They’re just two outstanding guys.”
The promotions were announced during the regular Baldwin City Council meeting on Monday night. “They both (Adams and Webb) completed supervisor training this week.” Mayor Jerry Neace says of the officers, “We’re ready to move forward with this department.”
The Baldwin Police Department has seen its share of troubles over the past several years. City Council members chose to “lay off” all the town’s officers and investigators in order to reorganize the entire police force back in January of 2014. Nichols was then brought in to completely rebuild the department’s ranks, “We’re going in a great direction and this (promotion) will keep us going that way.”
