Baldwin, GA – The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) this week donated seven ballistic vests to the Baldwin Police Department. The donation is part of the Georgia FOP’s program “Operation Protect Our Protectors”. The organization has donated more than 800 vests in Georgia since the program began in 2002.

Lowell McNeal, president of Lodge 41 of the Georgia FOP presented the vests to Baldwin police chief Chad Nichols. “Officer safety is a critical issue in law enforcement, and the ballistic vest has been proven to not only reduce injuries but also save lives,” says McNeal. “Every officer should wear a ballistic vest every day. The FOP is working to ensure that more officers within our state have access to equipment that can provide protection to them as they protect fellow Georgians.”

Baldwin Police Chief Chad Nichols welcomed the donation. “Our old vests were outdated and didn’t fit well. These new vests are custom-fitted to our officers and represent about a $5,000.00 dollar donation to our department.”

According to a press release from the FOP, The Georgia FOP represents 4.000 law enforcement members across the state and is part of the nation’s largest law enforcement organization with more than 318,000 members nationwide. The FOP is committed to achieving better working conditions and benefits for its members and providing quality service to the public.
