Babers, Raiders Renew Old Rivalry, Seek to Continue Dominance

Things appeared bleak for Habersham Central late in last Friday’s game at White County. However, the Raiders reached in their pocket and pulled out an improbable, albeit not at all surprising dramatic win.

Hab Central is now riding the momentum of the past two games, starting out 2-0 for the first time since 1990. Benji Harrison will no doubt have the Raiders focused on this week’s matchup against Franklin County, a team they haven’t played since 2001. Historically, Habersham has owned the Lions, going 15-3 all-time against them.

However, Franklin is a team that made the state playoffs in 2015 and looking to do the same this year. The Lions and Raiders have a common opponent already played in 2016 (White County), and while both took down the Warriors, the scores don’t provide much help in trying to guess this week’s outcome.

Franklin County (1-1) beat the Warriors 26-7 in Week 1, but got crushed by Stephens County (1-1) in Week 0, 61-20. Stephens will be Habersham’s opponent in Week 4.

Habersham’s Michael Babers continues his hot start, collecting 149 yards and two touchdowns at White County last Friday night.
