The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and GBI Bomb Squad today returned to the scene of a Sunday night bomb scare in Demorest. In a press release, HCSO Lt. Matthew Wurtz says officers responded to a residence on Daniel Road at 12:47 p.m. Monday in reference to suspicious items.
“After locating the items it was determined that they appeared to be dangerous and the GBI Bomb Unit was contacted and responded to the scene,” the release states. “The GBI Bomb Unit took possession of the suspicious items and destroyed them.”
A small portion of Daniel Road was closed during the incident.

Monday’s discovery came just 12 hours after authorities cleared the scene following a bomb scare at the same location on Daniel Road Sunday. That incident shut down part of Daniel Road behind the Haywood Hills subdivision for nearly three hours.
