The Fannin County School System responded to an online threat directed toward students and a staff member late last week, according to officials.
Administrators at Fannin County High School discovered the online statement said to contain threats toward both students and a teacher on Friday, Feb. 14. In response, the school located the student allegedly responsible, took them to the office and then escorted them off campus.
Parents of the students and the teacher named in the statement were immediately notified, according to officials, and the school has cooperated with local law enforcement and the district attorney’s office to investigate the matter.
The school’s administration stated it will continue to monitor the situation and prioritize the safety of all students and staff members moving forward.
