Trust fund established for children orphaned after parents’ apparent murder/suicide

A trust fund has been established for the children of a Franklin County couple who died in an apparent murder/suicide just before Christmas.

The bodies of 29-year-old Matthew Cody Hart and 28-year-old Whitney Samantha Hart were found in their Sandy Cross home on Dec. 22.

He was a farmer and member of the Sandy Cross Volunteer Fire Department. She was a personal banker who worked at Pinnacle Bank, according to their obituary. They’d been married for 10 years.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and GBI are investigating. Authorities have not released information about what led up to their deaths, according to WNEG News.

The couple leaves behind a son and daughter. Donations may be made to the Levi and Kimber Trust Fund at any Pinnacle Bank location.
