The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the body of a man found Monday in the woods in Habersham County is that of a missing Cornelia man.
The GBI ruled the death of 40-year-old Joey Clifton Dooley a suicide, according to bureau spokesperson Natalie Ammons.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office had asked for the public’s help in locating Dooley after a family member reported him missing. His truck was found on Pumping Station road off of Black Mountain in Toccoa.
The family updated the status of the search Monday evening in a social media post. They said the search had been called off and expressed their gratitude for the “thoughts, prayers, and help” they received. The family has asked for continued “thoughts and prayers.”
