Tracy Backer is a Habersham County native who recently moved back "home" from San Diego California where she has lived and worked as an RN for the past 18 years. She graduated from the University of North Georgia Nursing School in 1983 and has worked as an RN for for 39 years. Her specialty is critical care nursing and she currently works at Habersham Medical Center in Demorest, GA, in the recovery room and assists in pre op and ICU. She enjoys volunteering, especially for the medically underserved and has participated in medical missions in Mexico to care for children undergoing craniofacial surgery and providing medical care for the asylum seeking population currently being housed in Catholic missions and privately funded housing. Her passions are dogs (she has an Australian Cattle Dog rescue named Emmie), spending time with family and friends, kayaking, hiking, reading, yoga and cooking healthy food. She can be reached at
