It’s been 26 years since the last time Atlanta Braves fans could celebrate a World Series championship.

Turner Field, the home of the team for nearly 20 of those years, hadn’t even been built yet, as it was to first host track and field events for the 1996 Olympic Games. And an entire generation has grown to adulthood since the Braves’ unsuccessful appearance in the 1999 World Series.

Sports fans in Georgia have endured a lot of postseason heartbreak before and since, so perhaps a little more celebration is perfectly in order.
