A 29-year-old Athens man died over the weekend when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck, police say.
The crash happened at around 8:46 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, on North Avenue at Northside Drive near the University of Georgia campus.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s initial investigation indicates a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, driven by Richard Clark, 22, of Monticello, was turning left onto North Avenue from Northside Drive. The pickup collided with a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle which was traveling south on North Avenue.
The motorcycle driver, Kody Kuckuck, died at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash.
