Athens man stabbed, son arrested

A 20-year-old Athens man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing his father, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) said.

Police charged Caleb Allen with assault under the Family Violence Act. They also charged him with aggravated battery, obstructing a 911 call, and theft by taking.

Just before 3 a.m. on March 18, ACCPD officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Cardinal Creek Lane.

Responding officers found Allen’s 42-year-old father with multiple stab wounds. Officers rendered life-saving aid until medical personnel arrived. An ambulance transported him to a local hospital in critical condition.

According to ACCPD Lt. Jody Thompson, after the stabbing, the son drove away. Athens police issued a lookout for the vehicle. Jackson County authorities located the vehicle and suspect and transported him back to Clarke County,
