Creature Comforts Brewing Company has been named one of the top 50 craft breweries in the United States by the Brewers Association. The Athens brewery secured the 31st spot on the 2024 list of the top 50 craft breweries by beer sales volume.
The Brewers Association also ranked Creature Comforts 42nd overall among all U.S. brewing companies, regardless of size or type. Creature Comforts is the only Georgia brewery on either list and one of a few in the Deep South.
Founded in 2014 in Athens, the company has since expanded to Los Angeles with a second brewery and taproom.
“While distribution is only becoming more competitive, the top 50 list reflects some of the strongest, most emblematic companies in craft beer,” said Brewers Association Staff Economist Matt Gacioch. “Enduring brands continue to resonate with drinkers—regardless of size or location.”
Gacioch added that in 2024, eight new breweries moved into the top 50 craft list. “Evidence,” he said, “that brewers are still finding ways to lean into what’s working.”
The Brewers Association’s annual rankings highlight the changing landscape of the craft beer industry, emphasizing resilience, regional strength, and operational excellence over sheer volume growth. Despite a challenging year for the industry, 41 out of the top 50 U.S. brewing companies remain independent craft brewers, according to the Association. This year’s list includes some long-time fixtures and a few new faces.
