Piedmont College artist-in-residence, Dr. Jeri-Mae G. Astolfi, will present a piano concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan 25, in the college Chapel in Demorest.
Astolfi will perform works by William Byrd, Dr. John Bull, Peter Phillips, Giovanni Picchi, Henry Cowell, Stacey Barelos, Geoffrey Gordon, François Morel, Marjan Mozetich, Phillip Schroeder and Betty Wishart. The concert is free and everyone is invited. The Piedmont Chapel is located at 595 Central Avenue, Demorest.
Astolfi’s repertoire, ranging from the Renaissance era through the present, affirms her keen interest in new music, which has led her to commission and premiere many new solo and collaborative works—music that has been featured on live radio broadcasts and released by Albany Records, Innova Recordings, and Ravello Records. Her performances have also been featured by the Society of Composers’ “Performers Recording Series,” including the inaugural disc, “Mélange: New Music for Piano,” and its successors, “Sonance” and “Chroma.” Her newest album, “Wisconsin Soundscapes,” will be released by PARMA Recordings in March 2015.
Originally from Canada, Astolfi has served on the music faculty at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and at Henderson State University. She also frequently serves as a piano clinician, coach, and master class instructor. An active member in various local, state, and national music associations, she currently serves on the governing board of PianoArts (a North American piano competition, festival, and fellowship organization).
